Morning Keynote:
\nStephen Brobst<\/font><\/b>
\nBest Practices in Enterprise Meta Data Management
\nand Data Warehouse Deployments<\/font><\/i><\/b>
\nThis session provides a taxonomy of data warehouse
\ntopologies and discussion of best practices for enterprise
\ndata warehouse deployment. Characterization
\nof performance, total cost of ownership, and business
\nfunctionality will be used to describe tradeoffs
\namong various choices in topology and architecture
\ndeployment. Implementation techniques using integrated,
\nfederated, and data mart architectures will
\nbe discussed as well as deployment of four distinct
\nclasses of meta data (end user, design technical and
\nsemantic) which will be described in the context of
\ncreating a single source of truth for enterprise decision
\nmaking across multiple lines of business- and
\nfunctionally-oriented organizational boundaries.<\/font><\/p>\n

\nMaster Data Management and Data Standards:
\nBuilding From Consensus<\/font><\/i><\/b>
\nThe hot topic these days is master data management,
\nor being able to capture and manage reference
\ndata as a shared corporate asset that
\nfeeds into both production operational and analytical
\napplications. However, in the absence of
\nan agreement as to the semantics of the data
\nobjects being “master-managed,” the perpetual
\nproblems of misunderstanding the data will infiltrate
\nyour applications. Developing a master
\ndata management program provides an opportunity
\nfor the business and technical teams to
\ndiscuss and agree to standards for the structure,
\nform, and most importantly, meanings of the
\ndata elements to be managed. In this session,
\nwe’ll discuss using a data standards approach
\nto successfully support a master data management
