Did I mention it&#8217;s free?<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.realvnc.com\/images\/logo150x150.gif\" border=\"0\"><br \/>\nSince I typically only need it for Windows machines I had only used the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realvnc.com\/products\/free\/4.1\/winvnc.html\">Windows VNC Server version<\/a>.  With Linux,  &#8220;<i>ssh -l user -X myhostname.company.com<\/i>&#8221; would usually suffice.  The Windows version polls to check for updates to the window, or screen, or underneath the mouse, etc.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been duly impressed by the headless VNC server that comes with my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whiteboxlinux.org\/\">White Box Linux<\/a>.  I was expecting a similar experience with delays, pixelation, screen refresh issues but I&#8217;ve experienced <b>NONE<\/b> of that.  When I full screen my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realvnc.com\/products\/free\/4.1\/winvncviewer.html\">VNC client<\/a> I notice little difference than if I were at the console.  Anyhow, I just thought I&#8217;d mention that the headless Linux VNC is <b>much much<\/b> better than the Windows polling VNC.
